Joe’s Music Mix
As it turns out, I got a great gift from Joe this past Friday, which made me feel pretty crummy about forgetting that it was his birthday.
Anyway, he sent me an eclectic two-CD set of music he thought I’d like (which I do, by the way). I thought I’d share it with my readers, just to provide a little more perspective on my mysterious guest blogger.
Some of the tracks are recordings I don’t own by some of my favorite artists (Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, Johnny Cash, Tom Waits, The Pogues*), other tracks are by bands I’ve never heard of (Solas, Neko Case, Paolo Conte), and just a few are by bands that I actually dislike (Nick Cave, Zwan). I’m pleasantly surprised to report that some of the bands in that last category are starting to grow on me. I never thought I’d actually want to buy a White Stripes album, but there you have it.
*Well, actually, “If I Should Fall From Grace with God” is the one track in this set that I do own, which is pretty good (or pretty bad for my musical library, depending on how you look at it) for a 40-song mix.
