Excerpt from Oblivion
Thanks to Ed for reporting on the online excerpt from David Foster Wallace’s forthcoming Oblivion. When I have a moment or three, I hope to actually get around to reading “Philosophy and the Mirror of Nature” and giving it a chance.
Till then, I’ll remain conflicted on whether to buy the book. As I’ve mentioned before, though I’ve consistently enjoyed both of DFW’s novels and most of his nonfiction (unfortunately, I just wasn’t man enough to get through Everything and More), his collections of short stories have left me pretty cold so far.

Brian: Blogger has this weird new comment login thing that pisses me off. But needless to say, not man enough? This from the guy reading “A Suitable Boy?” What does this fool have to do to keep you cool and macho, bro? Your pal, Dr. Mabuse.

Thanks for the support, Ed. As for keeping cool and macho, I guess I’ve been ruined by all that knitting.
For what it’s worth, the Blogger login thing pisses me off too. As long as commenters give some indication of who they are in their comment, I don’t mind people posting as Anonymous at all.
